A Pair of Victorian/Edwardian Rare Size Staffordshire Free Standing Pottery Collie Dogs. They are decorated with a sprayed underglaze Orange/Red paint and hand-painted with yellow/orange, black & bright gold decoration. The lead glaze shows the slight blue tinge that is characteristic of a cobalt additive, commonly referred to as pearlware. The design and method of paint application indicate a late Victorian date 1875+ (ref 1& 2).
· Dimensions: 28cm (11”) tall, 30cm (4 ½") deep and 30cm (12") long. · Weight: 1800 & 1750g. Total packaged weight is ~ 5-6 kg. · Overall Condition: Excellent. · Repair/Restoration/Conservation: Glass eyes have been re-fixed. · Chips/Dents: None. · Cracks: None. · Other notes: Very clean and scarce examples with unstained crazing.
