Price: £90

The lead glazed dogs are decorated with bright gold gilded decoration. The eyes, mouth and nose are painted in black, grey, yellow and pink overglaze enamel colours. The dogs have carefully applied facial features. Date of production is circa 1870 (ref. 1). A Similar dog is shown on the front cover of Adele Kenny’s book on Staffordshire Spaniels.

 

· Dimensions: 25cm (10”) tall, slight difference between the two. 17.5cm (7 ½”) wide and 13cm (5”) deep.

· Weight: 1400g & 1200g. Total packaged weight is ~ 3.5kg.

· Overall Condition: Good to fair.

· Repair/Restoration/Conservation: None.

· Chips/Dents: 8mm x 6mm chip to base of LHS dog.

· Cracks: A prominent craze line/ tight hairline on each dog; LHS dog 2” line coming from firing crack on seam & RHS dog above rear leg at the front.

· Other notes: Usual unstained crazing to both and wear to gold.
