A Pair of Staffordshire Pottery Sitting Pekinese Dogs. The slip cast dogs are decorated with bright gold splashes and the usual gold collar and padlock. The dogs are stocky and wide in appearance on comparison to the spaniels. This Pekinese dog mould can also be found in various colours with or without glass eyes. The base shows the larger gas expansion hole typical of the slip cast dogs. The glaze is the typical blue tinted lead glaze used until early 20th century. Date of production is circa 1880 - 1910 (ref 1).
